Mid Group are delighted to have been shortlisted for the 2017 Building Magazine Awards, in the BIM Innovation Category.
The Mid Group have been recognised for their work on the Brighton 3Ts Hospital, where the Mid Group BIM team have developed a Virtual Reality (“VR”) model of the entire 95,000m2 hospital. The VR includes all architectural, structural and MEP elements, as well as all the medical equipment.
The VR has been used to allow clinicians, nurses and other key stakeholders to test the hospital years before it actually opens. This helps in ensuring that the new hospital design meets the requirements of stakeholders at the earliest stages and avoids late stage changes.
The early engagement of the Mid Group team in developing the VR has resulted in major, acute hospital being fully developed in VR for what is thought to be the first time.
Sahel Majali, Chairman of the Mid Group said “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for these prestigious awards. As a new business, to be recognised alongside some of the giants in the industry is a huge honour. The Mid Group was one of the first contractors in the UK to achieve BIM Level 2 compliance, and continues to push the boundaries in BIM and construction.”
Andrew Shepherd, Deputy CEO added, “This shortlisting is a testament to the quality of the BIM team within the Mid Group, who have established themselves as a leading in-house team. Stephen Chudley, our BIM lead, is developing a BIM practice that is now able to deliver projects of all sizes and level of complexity.”
